Platform3 is a unique interdisciplinary cultural model for contemporary art based in 2000m2 of ex-warehouse in the South of Munich, a stone’s throw from the U-Bahn stop, Aidenbachstraße (U3). It is based on three principal elements; hence the name Platform3:
- 22 Artist ateliers and 2 exhibition spaces
- Exhibitions and events centred around interdisciplinary approaches to arts and culture
- Training and qualification of Culture Managers, Curators, Materials Managers and Assistants
Platform3 is an initiative of, and is funded by, the Department of Work and Industry of the provincial capital, Munich, and supported by Wohnforum München GmbH. Platform3 provides space for a guest atelier from the Department of Culture of the provincial capital, Munich, that supports and cooperates with the content development of the project.
Platform3 is an institution for the production and facilitation of art and a platform for artistic and cultural work through its international exchange and cooperation programs.
Platform3 and its cultural work allow for debate on the development and funding of the cultural industry and facilitate concrete models leading to improvement in this area.
Platform3 is an environment for young Culture Managers and Curators to experiment through their own projects in close relationship with the cultural scene and so gain valuable qualifications in the cultural employment market. A qualification program for Culture Managers is being conceived under experienced management and in cooperation with universities and colleges, as well as further education initiatives in the sector.
Platform3 sees itself as a services agency in the art and cultural sector. It is a new model for creative production, communication and mediation.
